otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon provides comprehensive
medical and surgical care for adult and pediatric
patients with diseases and disorders that affect the
ears, nose and throat, the respiratory and upper alimentary
systems, and related structures of the head and neck.

(ABOto) is to assure that, at the time of certification
and recertification, diplomates certified by
the ABOto have met the ABOto's professional
standards of training and knowledge in otolaryngology

What does it mean to be Board Certified?
While
licensure by the individual states sets the minimum
competency requirements to practice medicine, it is
not specialty specific. Board certification is a voluntary
program in which specialists seek to improve their
performance and demonstrate a commitment to their
