SCOPE OF KNOWLEDGE

In 1996, the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto) commissioned a national practice analysis study to identify the scope of the specialty of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. The document below describes the methodology used to conduct the study and the results obtained. From this study, the Exam Blueprint was established. This document, which lists specific content areas and procedures, serves as the blueprint for the ABOto Otolaryngology Training Examination and the ABOto Written Qualifying Examination.
